A Bremerton man, who tried to outrun Washington State Patrol (WSP) troopers in his vehicle before running into his house and locking the doors behind him, has been arrested and booked into the Kitsap County Jail on two charges.
Trooper Mitch Bauer attempted to stop a vehicle driven by 51 year-old Jeffery R. McKee on Perry Avenue early Saturday morning for driving more than 20 mph over the posted speed limit. McKee accelerated as Bauer followed behind with lights and sirens, eventually pulling into his driveway on Petersville Road. McKee ran into his house, shutting off the lights and locking the door behind him.
Troopers, along with Bremerton police officers, surrounded the house and gave McKee verbal commands to come out. After failed attempts to get McKee to surrender, troopers obtained a telephonic search warrant, allowing entry into the house.
Troopers located an intoxicated McKee in a bedroom, where he was taken into custody without incident.
He was transported to the jail, where he was booked on charges of DUI and attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle. McKee is scheduled in court today at 3 p.m.
