Taken from an incident report by a Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputy:

A 32-year-old South Kitsap man apparently stole jewelry, with an estimated value around $15,000, from several members of his family, after moving in with his mother at the 5500 block of SW Old Clifton Road.

Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputies located the items at a pawn shop in East Bremerton.

The man’s 53-year-old mother identified the items that he’d allegedly stolen from her–which included her and her husband’s wedding rings, a pair of diamond earrings that she’d worn at her wedding and several gold chains, each with a broken clasp.

She estimated the total value to be around $10,000.

She also found her deceased mother’s wedding ring and a black sapphire “MOM” ring that she’d given her mother with the jewelry at the shop.

Her father and step mother, who live in Hansville, identified a St. Christopher medallion, two pairs of diamond earrings and two gold crosses.

Their estimated total value was $5,000.

Kitsap County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived at the home where the man lived around 6:30 p.m., and arrested him for first degree theft and first degree trafficking in stolen property.

Bail was initially set at $25,000 for each charge, or $50,000 total.

Deputies transported him to jail, read him his Miranda rights and gave him the opportunity to speak.

The suspect allegedly said that he would cooperate if deputies allowed him to smoke a cigarette.

The deputy told the suspect that he wouldn’t negotiate with him and escorted him to jail.

While searching the man’s pocket, incident to arrest, he found a ticket from July 27 from the Pawn Xchange in East Bremerton. It was taken into evidence.
