Despite finding no video evidence, Kitsap County prosecutors haven’t decided whether to charge former Kingston High School basketball coach Kevin Strozier for allegedly smoking marijuana with students.
The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation Nov. 5 after a student at Kingston High School claimed there was a video showing Strozier smoking marijuana with students. Sheriff’s spokesman Scott Wilson said no such video was found, and the Sheriff’s Office had no probable cause to make an arrest. On Nov. 12, the department passed the case on to the Kitsap County Prosecutors Office, where it continues to be investigated.
The North Kitsap School District began its own investigation into the allegations Nov. 10, placing Strozier on paid administrative leave until the end of the month.
Assistant Superintendent Chris Willits said placing Strozier on administrative leave does not mean the district believes Strozier is guilty of the accusations against him. Rather, he said the district felt placing Strozier on leave was in everyone’s best interest given the nature of the allegations.
