A police dispatcher advised a Bremerton Police officer of a caller wanting to report fraud via telephone calls at 3 p.m. Dec. 1.

The officer called the 79-year-old Bremerton woman who said she had been receiving phone calls from a man for more than a month. He first told her she won $6 million and needed an address to send the money. When she refused to give him her address, he called back later and asked for money. The woman told the officer she is worried the man may try and find out where she lives.

The woman gave the officer two phone numbers the man called from, both were Jamaican area codes.

If the man called again, the officer told the woman to tell him that law enforcement had been notified of the incidents.

A Bremerton Police officer was driving southbound on Marion Avenue in Bremerton at 5:14 p.m. Nov. 30 when he saw a man and woman yelling at each other on the side of the road. He turned around to check on them and 911 dispatch advised him of a verbal dispute heard in the area that may be related to the man and woman.

The officer stopped the 34-year-old man and 42-year-old woman at the intersection of Marion Avenue North and Burwell Street and noted in his report they both smelled of alcohol.

The man and woman told the officer they were arguing about where they were going to eat, “hamburgers or tacos.”

The officer told them people called police about the yelling and they apologized and said they know they’re loud when they argue, but their counselor encourages them to be vocal with one another.

The officer told them everything was OK as long as they weren’t bothering anyone or hurting each other. No arrest was made.

to squirrels

A Bremerton Police officer met a 67-year-old Bremerton woman at her home in the 1900 block of Fourth Street at 5:45 p.m. Dec. 1 because someone trespassed on her property.

The woman told the officer she was served papers from the Kitsap Humane Society and fined $156 for feeding squirrels on her front porch. The report contained photos of squirrels eating on her porch. She said someone must have trespassed onto her property to snap the photos and said a 57-year-old neighbor was the one who filed the report. The woman wanted him to stay off her property.

The officer called the man and he said he did take the photos because the humane society told him to do it. He said the neighborhood is infested with squirrels because four neighbors are feeding them.

The officer filed a report and told the man the woman does not want him on her property. No arrest was made.
