It might not have resulted in a victory, but South Kitsap coach Jessica Olsen is happy with how her volleyball team is progressing.
The Wolves (4-3 overall, 2-3 league) took defending state champion Olympia to five games last week in a 25-23, 13-25, 26-24, 26-28, 13-15 loss in Class 4A Narrows League play. Senior Toni Brown-Bell had 22 digs and 10 kills during that match.
“Going five games with them definitely shows where we’re at,” Olsen said.
South also lost Monday, 7-25, 14-25, 25-22, 15-25 at Bellarmine Prep, which placed eighth in the 4A state tournament last year. Danielle Chu had 16 kills and 12 digs during that match.
“Little by little, we’re learning how to play with confidence with every point of the game,” Olsen said.
After the Wolves’ match Wednesday at Gig Harbor, they host North Kitsap in a nonleague contest at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
