Habitat will build seven new homes

Habitat for Humanity of Kitsap County will be accepting applications to find seven new families or individuals to become home owners at two new build sites at Whittle Place in Bremerton and Harris Court in Port Orchard.

Habitat for Humanity of Kitsap County will be accepting applications to find seven new families or individuals to become home owners at two new build sites at Whittle Place in Bremerton and Harris Court in Port Orchard.

Habitat for Humanity builds affordable housing in partnership with people who are living in inadequate housing who are unable to secure adequate housing by conventional means. Habitat selects homeowner-partners based on their need for adequate shelter; their ability to pay for the Habitat home; and their willingness to partner with Habitat for Humanity. Habitat does not discriminate in the selection of homeowner-partners on the basis of race, creed, gender, disability, ethnic background, or any other characteristic protected by law.

The first application meetings will be held in Bremerton at First Christian Church, located at 811 Veneta Ave. The first two meetings are slated for 10 a.m. March 11 and noon at March 16.

In addition, meetings are slated to take place in Port Orchard at First Lutheran Church, located at 2483 Mitchell Rd SE. They will be held at 6 p.m. March 19 and noon at March 21.

Attendance at one of these meetings is required. Bring the following documents:

Legal name and applicable information on all members of the household.

• Contact information

• Income and expense verification for the following: current rmployer, landlord (lease agreement, payment verification), creditors, loans (student, car, etc.), tuition, insurance, current month bank statements, child support, alimony, food stamps, TANF, DSHS/SSA/SSI, and other income or expense documentation

• Two personal references

• Previous year’s tax paperwork (W-2/filing papers).
