The Port Orchard Chamber of Commerce is calling for nominations for the 2009 Man and Woman of the Year, continuing a tradition of recognizing outstanding community members that began in 1963.
Since that time, 73 men and women have received this honor for their commitment to the South Kitsap Community.
The successful candidates will have donated many hours of service to the organization of their choice for the betterment of the South Kitsap community.
The nominee does not have to be a chamber member or be associated with a business organization.
He or she can be active in a church or synagogue, a youth organization, a not-for profit organization, fraternal, educational or political organization.
Last year’s honorees were Al Mahaney, president of Fathoms o’Fun Festival, and Teri Goodwin, volunteer and co-owner of Cruisen’ Car Wash.

Nomination forms are available on the site, and can be submitted online.

Nominations are due by Sept. 4, and the awards will be made at the Port Orchard Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Fundraiser and Installation Banquet on Sept. 26.
