How do you adequately thank the people who saved your child’s life? We are not sure, but we hope it starts with a public expression of our deepest gratitude and acknowledgement of their heroism.

On Oct. 12, James and Laura Kocker of Poulsbo stopped to investigate our son’s accident after seeing him drive off I-90 near Ellensburg and crash into a pond. Mr. Kocker swam out into the frigid water to discover our dear Tony unconscious and his car sinking. Washington State Trooper Jay Farmer responded to their emergency call and both men swam back to extricate Tony from the car which, by then, was submerged.

Tony’s life literally depended on their efforts. Miraculously, they were able to break a window, unbuckle his seatbelt, and free him from the car and the water. Tony regained consciousness after they brought him to shore and today, we are happy to say, he is fine.

The Kockers and Trooper Farmer’s swift, selfless action and bravery made the difference between a family tragedy and being able to celebrate our son’s upcoming birthday. For that, we cannot begin to thank them enough.

We want the community of Poulsbo and the entire state of Washington to know you have true heroes among you.
