POULSBO — North Kitsap Fishline’s old site on 3rd Avenue will become a used furniture store.
“The whole old thrift shop space will be the showroom, and donated furniture, household and decorator items will be sold to generate funding to help Fishline and its clients,” Fishline Executive Director Mary Nader reported.
“Its name will be ‘Second Season Home’ and it will also include ‘Third Season,’ which are clothing/accessory items not in good enough shape to sell at our Second Season Store but still might be good enough, and will be offered with steep discounts. It will also be the place clients can shop for clothes for their families with vouchers we issue them.”
Second Season Home will begin accepting furniture and household donations the last three weekends in August — Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. — and will open the showroom on Sept. 4. Days and hours of operation will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. According to Nader, pickup and delivery service may be offered in the future.
“We believe this will be a real viable alternative for purchase of slightly used household items,” Nader reported. “I know when I shop for used furniture, I typically go to the Goodwill stores in Silverdale and Bremerton. We think people might be happy to shop a little closer to home, get a nice selection of good-condition furniture and contribute to a cause they care about. It might also be preferable for people to donate locally and know the funds will be used to help local families.”
Fishline Food Bank moved in early May to the former Poulsbo RV site on Viking Avenue. In addition, it operates Second Season Thrift Store on Anderson Parkway.
Fishline offers food, housing and utility assistance.
