The public will have a chance to taste various foods from local eateries during the fourth annual Taste of Port Orchard that is set for Aug. 31. It is from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Port Orchard Marina Park gazebo
Clancy Donlin, of Fleetwood Kitchen Group, chaired the event committee and said the event will help “cap the summer boating season.”
“This is an opportunity for our local eateries and artists to showcase their talents,” said Donlin. “This year, we are able to expand the event, thanks to four prime sponsors who stepped up to the plate.”
Don Ryan, Port Orchard Bay Street Association president, said the organization is proud to sponsor the event that was started by the late Darryl Baldwin of MoonDogs Too. This year there will be the “Darryl Award” for the most original dish.
Some of this year’s participants include MoonDogs Too, The Bay Street Bistro, Carter’s Chocolates, Red Dog Saloon, Wig Wam Pub, Tommy C’s, One Ten Lounge, Central Dock and Bay Street Meat Company.
“We’re still waiting to hear from others,” said Christine Stansbery, chair of POBSA marketing committee, “Restaurant owners never have enough hours in the day. Many more will come through in the next few days.”
Tickets are $1 to $5 for food.
Live music will be provided by Tammy Frost and the Thrillbillies from 12-2 p.m. and Greenbriar from 3-6 p.m. at the gazebo. There also will be children’s activities.
