House Bill 2267 by Rep. Drew Hansen (D-Bainbridge Island), could result in a voter-approved fast ferry plan to re-launch the Rich Passage 1. Hansen says this will bring more jobs and commuters to Bremerton.

This is the first time I have heard of anyone from Bainbridge Island caring anything about ferry service to Bremerton. It has always been about keeping folks from Bremerton from using the ferry from Bainbridge Island to Seattle.

What is the connection between creating jobs and getting more commuters to Bremerton? Is this supposed to provide a fast ferry so folks from Seattle can come to Bremerton to take all these new jobs?

What does “voter-approved” mean?

The voters said “no” twice before and still money was spent to develop the Rich Passage 1.

Last of all, where did the federal government get the $13 million provided to build and test the Rich Passage 1? All tax payers should know the answer to that.

Given a chance to vote again on the fast ferry I’ll vote “no” for the third time.  Even though I live in Port Orchard and far from any services provided, part of my property taxes goes to Kitsap Transit.
