POULSBO — Aaron D. Murphy, owner of ADM Architecture, will present on “The Aging In Place Phenomenon” at the 2013 American Society on Aging national conference (http://asaging.org/aia), March 12-16 in Chicago.
Murphy specializes in architectural design that enables the resident to stay in his or her home as long as possible as they age.
He and his firm manage Empowering The Mature Mind (www.EmpoweringTheMature Mind.com), a resource for older residents, Baby Boomers, their families and caregivers.
Murphy is also a Certified Aging In Place Specialist, a certification he obtained in 2009 through the National Association of Homebuilders.
“We prefer to design remodels, additions, and new construction of ‘forever homes’ for people that want to stay at home for as long as possible, which is the first choice for 89 percent of the population, according to AARP,” Murphy said.
“It’s way more than just a handyman or contractor putting a grab bar in the shower. Design is a client-driven solution exercise … Everything from daylight solutions, to hardware selections, to acoustics and sound absorption play a part in a successful project.”
