“Oh, wow, ‘Wayne’s World’ makes so much more sense right now … and the mystery woman behind that catchy Simon and Garfunkle tune, that all makes sense too,” the uncultured swine uttered.

That was me, bantering after my all-too-tardy initiation to the movie “The Graduate.”

Don’t be one of those guys.

The 1967 classic is showing at 7 p.m., Feb. 22 at the Admiral Theatre, 515 Pacific Ave. in Bremerton. Tickets are $7.

Part of the Admiral’s year-long classic film series, this is the film that sparked the American icon Dustin Hoffman’s acting career and also provides the collective punchline for countless quips, parodies and spoofs in contemporary pop culture.

You know the ending of “Wayne’s World 2” that seems a bit too theatrical for the rest of the Mike Meyers/Dana Carvey genius, the conclusion where Meyers’ mulleted character, Wayne, is rushing to stop his love interest Casandra from getting married but his sports car runs out of gas so he has to run all the way to the chapel and bang on the windows?

Yeah, they ripped that off from “The Graduate.”

And as for the musically immortalized “Mrs. Robinson,” she’s one of the leading ladies — an older, but still sexy, married woman, played by Anne Bancroft, who seduces young Ben (Hoffman), a 20-something who just graduated college without a clue what to do next, into a summertime affair.
