Most of us are aware of what goes on in state and federal politics, but all too often we don’t know what is going on right under our nose.
The Port Orchard Independent is doing an excellent job of keeping us informed, even when it might be somewhat controversial.
Three such opinion pieces appeared in last week’s newspaper.
First was the editorial (“WestNet, pot growers keep doing their dance,” May 21).
For several months the Independent’s editorials have been an example of excellent, informative journalism.
Second was the Guest Opinion (“The battle to preserve property rights is in danger of being lost”) by Carl Duff exposing the lunacy in the state Department of Ecology.
Third was Robert Meadows’ column (“Public employees snub local lawmakers”) explaining how to get elected in Washington state.
Keep those cards and letters coming folks.
(By the way, I miss Adele Ferguson.)
