Dewayne Vetter, of Port Orchard, died on June 19, 2008, at home.
He was 72.
He was born on Oct. 7, 1935, in Silverton, Ore., to Louis and Barbara (Dillman) Vetter.
He graduated from Molalla Union High School in 1954.
He joined Ironworkers Local 29 in Portland, Ore., and served a two-year apprenticeship before becoming a Journeyman ironworker. In 1962 he took a job with Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton in Shop 26 and retired as supervisor and acting general foreman 30 years later.
He was an avid outdoorsman and fisherman.
He was very active in Kitsap County Poggie Club, the Hood Canal Salmon Enhancement Group and a volunteer for Washington State Department of Fisheries.
He is survived by wife Pat Vetter; sons Howie (and wife Lynn) Vetter and Thomas (and wife Julie) Vetter; brother Larry Vetter; sister Marcia Whiticre; and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by brother Martin Vetter.
At his request, there will be no services.
