Billy G. Miller, 73, a resident of Port Orchard, died Dec. 19, 2002.
He was born on July 25, 1929 in Harrisburg, Ill. to Edward and Ida Mae (Milli-gan) Miller. He married Sonja (Chris-tensen) Miller on May 19, 1990.
He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1948.
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1948 and achieved the rank of Lt. Commander.
He retired from the Navy in 1970. He was Officer in Charge, Pacific Fleet Missile Weapons Systems Training Unit in San Diego, Calif.
He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 2669. In Port Orchard, member of Eagles Aerie 2338, was an avid poker player and enjoyed his grandchildren. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Port Orchard.
He is survived by his wife Sonja Miller; mother Ida Mae Sewell; daughters Denise Miller of Bonita, Calif., and Deborah Kemp and husband Phillip of Houston, Texas; sons David Miller of Chula Vista, Calif., and step-sons Douglas Nation and wife Lily of Port Orchard and Travis Nation and wife Jennifer also of Port Orchard; brothers Dan Sewell of Platteville, Wis., and Dennis Sewell of Port Orchard; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Edward Miller, brothers Edgar and Max Miller and his step-father Liewelyn Sewell.
A memorial service was held Dec. 27, 2002, at First Lutheran Church in Port Orchard followed by interment at Sunset Lane Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard.
