Orville A. Meeker, 92, of Bremerton, died on February 10, 2013, surrounded by family.

He was born March 24, 1920 in Corning, Kan., to Archie and Nellie (Gilbert) Meeker. Orville married his true love Emma Louise Bowden on July 24, 1960, in Elko, Nevada.

Orville was a skilled carpenter and woodworker until he retired at an early age to travel and camp throughout the states with his family. When it came to gardening Orville had the healthiest and most abundant garden mixed among Louises’ flowers. Always keeping busy in his shop he continued wood working on many projects that he usually gave as gifts to his friends and family.

Nothing stood in the way of a Mariners game though; he never missed a game and was a true fan all the way. He built many buildings that are historic in the Kitsap Region for the local military bases. He was an avid snowbird, spending six months in Yuma, Ariz. and the other six in Bremerton.

Orville had the ability to make each and every person smile with his humor along with his laugh, he always had a joke!

He is survived by daughters, Linda Joyce Cordova of Port Orchard, Anita Van Ruth of Bremerton and Linda Meeker; four grandchildren, Rick (Michelle) Cordova, Ann (Ken) Wilson and Tina (Daryl) Whitney of Port Orchard and Jamey Van Ruth of Bremerton; seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Emma Louise, son Allen Meeker, son in laws Richard Cordova and Jim Van Ruth, brothers Everett, Elmer, Ivan, Raymond and Donald, sisters Martha and Twila.
