Amanda Jensen

Amanda T. Noll Jensen of Poulsbo died May 10 on the family farm in Poulsbo. She was 93.

She was born July 4, 1915, to Axel Karl Emil and Olianna (Johansdotter) Noll. She graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1933 and married Clifford Jensen on June 7, 1935. The couple made their first home in Lemolo, where Amanda was a homemaker and mother to their first two daughters, Sally and Nancy. When the girls were older, 14 and 17, she went to work at Keyport Torpedo station, only to retire four years later for the birth of their third daughter, Peggy.

Jensen also worked as a manager at the Bainbridge Island strawberry plant and Sherwood Forest Farms in Keyport. In the early 1980s she and daughters Sally and Peggy opened Country Road Gift Shop in the one-room schoolhouse that she once attended in Lemolo.

Survivors include daughters Nancy Erstad and Peggy Stanley (David), both of Poulsbo; brother Fred Lupton of Seattle; grandchildren Annie (Bobby) Dano, Kristie (Rick) Sabado, Ron Simms, David (Jennifer) Simms, Jim Corso, Tammy Corso, Jerry (Gina) Corso, Emmie Stanley and Clayton Stanley: 12 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford; her daughter Sally Simms; her son-in-law Robert Simms; great-granddaughter Laura Snoey; her parents, Axel and Olianna; brothers Oscar and Axel; infant brothers Edward and Johnny; sisters Augusta Brauer, Agnes Noll, Alice Bjorgen, and Olive Connor.

A memorial service will be on the family farm, at 1 p.m. July 4, what would have been her 94th birthday, at 17148 Johnson Road, Poulsbo.
