Stanley Paulson, Poulsbo

Stanley Edwin Paulson, Poulsbo, died April 24 at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton. He was 87 years old.

He was born Sept. 14, 1914 in Poulsbo to Gilbert and Alice Paulson He was the nephew of Paul (a former Poulsbo mayor, city clerk and city council member), Henry and Knute Paulson, North Kitsap pioneers.

He attended North Kitsap schools.

He married Florence Halvorson on April 30, 1948 in Port Angeles.

He was a gunner’s mate during World War II and was a recipient of the bronze star and good conduct medal.

He worked as a logger and shellfish harvester until his retirement in 1979.

He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife Florence Paulson, Poulsbo; daughters Kathy Eliason and Karen Paulson, both of Poulsbo; sons Gary Paulson, Poulsbo and Steve Paulson, Indianola; sisters Alice Johnson, Poulsbo and Bernice Ferguson, Bremerton; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A private family gathering will be held on May 4 in his honor.

Memorial donations may be made to an organization of the donor’s choice.
