Vopal McKinney

Vopal McKinney of Port Orchard, and formerly of Poulsbo, died May 8. She was 90.

McKinney was born Dec. 3, 1918 in Spencer, Iowa to Bill and Velma (Street) Puckett. On Nov. 14, 1945, McKinney married Lester E. McKinney. Lester preceded her in death in 1979. McKinney was a homemaker, but worked for Martha & Mary Health Services for 16 years. She was past president and vice president of the Poulsbo Senior Center, and a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Gig Harbor.

McKinney also volunteered for many charitable and civic organizations. She loved music, poetry, dancing, crocheting, being with her family and also enjoyed traveling.

McKinney was preceded in death by her sister, Betty; brother, Orville; and daughters, Dottie and Mary. She is survived by her sons, Bill (Carol) of Gig Harbor, and Dale (Evelyn) of Salinas, Utah; daughter, Jana of Poulsbo; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. May 17 at the Grace Presbyterian Church in Gig Harbor.
