Bremerton attorney Sharon Izer died Dec. 31, 2006, in Seattle. The Port Ludlow resident was 39 years old.
Mrs. Izer was born to Betty (Joyce) and Gerald Galedes on July 18, 1967, in Oak Park, Ill. She graduated from James B. Conant High School in Schaumburg, Ill., in 1985 and a year later she joined the Air Force, rising to the rank of Airman 1st Class and earning two good conduct medals, an Air Force Meritorious Medal and the Overseas Service Medal.
After her discharge in 1990, Mrs. Izer enrolled at Southern Illinois University where she graduated in 1994 with her bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies. She then enrolled in the College of Law at Northern Illinois University where she made the dean’s list and graduated cum laude juris doctor in May 1997. She was admitted to the Illinois State Bar in 1997.
In September 2000, she married William “Bill” J. Izer in Rockford, Ill., and that same month the newlyweds moved to Kitsap County. She was admitted to the Washington Bar in June 2001. Mrs. Izer was recently an associate at the Law Office of Thomas E. Weaver in Bremerton where she specialized in family law. Before joining Weaver’s firm, she also did pro bono work for Kitsap Legal Services. Mrs. Izer enjoyed art, reading and spending time with her family.
A celebration of her life is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Jan. 6 at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Bremerton. Cremation by Cherry Grove Crematory, arrangements by Lewis Funeral Chapel. An online memorial is available at www.lewischapel.com.
Mrs. Izer is survived by her husband of the family home; sons Liam and Nicholas Izer of Port Ludlow; parents Betty and Gerald Galeles of Port Ludlow; brother Gregory Galedes of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; sister Gwendolyn Zimmerman of Aurora, Ill.; godparents Rachel and Bill Gottfried of Paw Paw, Mich.; cousin Robert Gottfried of Austin, Texas; and many aunts and uncles.
