Shirley Pearl Ingman died Jan. 17, 2007, in Bremerton at the age of 98.
Mrs. Ingman was born Feb. 8, 1908 in Mercer, N.D., to Jonas and Juliana (Miller) Christensen. She attended Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis before moving to Bremerton in 1941. On Aug. 1, 1943, she married Edwin L. Ingman in Seattle.
Mrs. Ingman worked for Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Bremerton for two years and then taught Sunday school for 25 years. She served several terms on the church council, served as ALCW secretary of education on local and conference boards, and taught Bible study fellowship classes. She volunteered at Holly Ridge Center from 1968 to 1976 helping handicapped children.
Viewings are scheduled for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Bremerton with additional viewings from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday. A funeral service is 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Bremerton, followed by burial at Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery in Mercer. She is survived by her sons Paul Ingman of Olympia and Dr. Robert Ingman of Seattle; daughter Julie Johnson of Derby, Kan.; grandchildren Mark Ingman, Michael Ingman, Andy Johnson, Peter Johnson, Tommy Johnson, John Ingman, Joseph Ingman, Gini Herron, Shelley Williamson, Susan Scheel and Laura Amon; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ingman was preceded in death by her daughter Margaret Powers Knox, brother Walter Christensen and sister Carlie Olson.
