Carol Werner died Dec. 6, 2007. The Bremerton resident was 79.

Mrs. Werner was born on Nov. 5, 1928, to Martin O. and Carrie T. (Thompson) Vea in Davison County, S.D.

She moved to Washington when she was 7, attending Chico Elementary School. She graduated from Central Kitsap High School in 1946.

In 1948, she married Frederick R. Werner at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Bremerton.

Mrs. Werner traveled extensively in the Far East, accompanying her husband who was in the Army.

She is the past president of Pacific District Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Post 9723, Okinawa, Japan, and past matron of Chapter 241, OES of Belfair.

Her parents and her brother, Arthur Palmer Vea, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband; sons David and Ronald; daughter Valerie; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brother Lester Vea of Kenmore, Wash.

At her request, there will be no services.
