Bertha Amundsen Wickman of Bremerton died July 8, 2007. She was 89.
Mrs. Wickman was born on March 22, 1918 in Poulsbo to Halvdan and Gunchild Amundsend. She grew up on the family farm and completed her Lutheran Confirmation in the Norwegian class at First Lutheran Church.
She married John R. Wickman in Bremerton where they raised their three children Gwen (Dale) Fields of East Bremerton, Candace (Larry) Heglund of University Place and Rod Wickman, who passed away in 1995. She had nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren who all loved their grandma.
Mrs. Wickman is survived by her sisters Goodrun Keck of Auburn, Ruth Gray of Port Townsend, Lela Johnson of Fernley, Nev., and brother Harry Amundsen of Kent. She was preceded in death by her husband John, and siblings Jerry Amundsen, Christine Amundsen, Aslaug Falkner and Haldis Portmann.
She loved music and taught herself to play the piano. She also was a gifted artist who was very shy about her talents. Gardening, baking and reading were her favorite pastimes.
God bless you mom, you are now in heaven with your beloved son, Rod and husband John along with many family members. Rest in peace.
