Domingo Tariga Laudet died April 25, 2006, at Harrison Medical Center. A resident of Bremerton, he was 81 years old.
Mr. Laudet was born on Dec. 25, 1924, in Sorsogon, Philippines, as one of Pablo and Basilia (Tariga) Laudet’s six children.
In 1947 he went to work as a federal firefighter where he was stationed at Subic Bay Naval Station in the Philippines; Okinawa, Japan; and Saigon, Vietnam. He ended his firefighting career in 1970 as an assistant fire chief.
Mr. Laudet married his wife, Josephine Acayan Palermo, on June 17, 1961, in Iba, Zambales, Philippines. In 1973 the family moved to the United States where Mr. Laudet found jobs at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton, Retsil Veterans Home and the Lockheed shipyard in Seattle before he was hired at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard to be a pipefitter in Shop 56. He retired from PSNS after suffering an injury while working on the USS Carl Vinson in 1992.
In his free time, Mr. Laudet enjoyed reading, watching boxing matches on TV, gardening and doting on his four grandchildren.
Visitations are scheduled for noon-4 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Lewis Chapel in Bremerton. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church followed by a graveside service at 2 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Laudet is survived by his wife of the family home; sons Jose (Shannan) Palermo Laudet of Bremerton and Dennis Palermo Laudet of Kailua, Hawaii; daughter Jean (Rodolfo) Pascual of Bremerton; and grandchildren Justine and Ryan Pascual and Leather and Kaiona Laudet, all of Bremerton. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Mateo Laudet and Federico Laudet, and sisters Leonida Laudet, Carmen Guevarra and Anastasia Laudet.
