Bud J. Culbertson died Sunday, May 23, at the age of 79.

Culbertson owned and operated the Clear Creek Grocery Store for 20 years. Before that he had worked as an engineer for Boeing for 12 years and was also a rural postal carrier for 15 years.

He attended North Kitsap High School and was in the U.S. Army Aircorps during World War II.

He enjoyed fishing, golfing and playing the guitar and singing. He had earned a private pilot llicense and enjoyed all things dealing with planes. He was a member of the Central Kitsap School Board for two terms and spent 15 years as a volunteer driver for Chuck Wagon home delivered meals.

He was married to Betty Orwiler who preceeded him in death in 2003.

He is survived by a son Tom (Toni) Culbertson of Tahuya and daughter Jolene Culbertson (husband Bill Maiers) of Poulsbo, brothers Don (Michelle) Culbertson of Spokane, Dick Culbertson of Selah, Len (Norma) Culbertson of Spokane and sister Evelyn Briggs of Rockville, Maryland and also grandchildren Tommy and Kellie Culbertson and numerous neices and nephews and his golden retriever, Taylor.

There will be a memorial service at Lewis Funeral Chapel at 1 p.m. Thursday, May, 27. Memorial donations may be made to Chuck Wagon Senior Nutrition Program, 2817 Wheaton Way, No. 208, Bremerton, 98310.
