Walter P. King, 88

Former Poulsbo resident Walter Peery King died Aug. 3, 2003 in Federal Way. He was 88.

King was born Nov. 24, 1914 in Buhl, Idaho.

He attended George Fox University and was a veteran of World War II.

He lived in the Vancouver area since 1938 before his recent move to Federal Way, with job layovers in Glen’s Ferry, Idaho, Twin Falls, Idaho, Bend, Ore., Hillsboro, Ore. and Poulsbo.

King worked in construction as a contractor and was a manager for Evergreen Rentals and Earl Kelly’s Buffet. He was also a maintenance supervisor for Vancouver First Friends Church and managed Twin Rocks Friends Camp, where he was a pastor for the local Friends Church.

He enjoyed gardening, especially flower gardening, children and reading. He was a member of many Christian organizations, including the Clark County Holiness Association.

He is survived by his wife Myrtle King of Federal Way; daughters Shirley Tunsen of Everett, Sharon Sullivan of Federal Way and Linda Edwards of Arlington; son Bill King of Poulsbo; sister Maxine Larsen of King Hill, Idaho; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Burial with military honors was held Aug. 8 at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Ore. A memorial service was held Aug. 9 at Vancouver First Friends Church. Evergreen Staples Funeral Chapel handled arrangements.
