Philip McMaster
April 18, 1933 – November 20 2015
Philip Aloysius McMaster passed away on Friday, Nov. 20, 2015 at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle. He was born on April 18, 1933 in McSherrystown, Pennsylvania and was 82. Philip graduated from Delone Catholic High School in McSherrystown in 1951 and attended Mount St. Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, Maryland where he graduated in 1959. He retired from the Bank of Hanover in 1990. He served in the Army during WWII and received the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He is survived by his wife Patricia McMaster of Hansville and his children: Jane Shasky of Bremerton, Daniel McMaster of Sunol, California, Stephen McMaster of Soldatna, Alaska and Teresa Ranft of Maple Valley.
Philip also leaves behind eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace Staub McMaster and Gilbert McMaster and his siblings Treva Sneeringer, Thelma Leister, Frances McNicol, Lorraine McMaster, Genevieve Garrett, James McMaster and Donald McMaster. Phil enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and crabbing on Hood Canal and, in his later years, building WWII model airplanes. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Suquamish. Interment followed at Hansville Cemetery. A reception was held following the services at the Driftwood Key Clubhouse. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the St. Joseph’s Indian School, South Dakota.
