Dean Richards

Dean Richards died July 6. He was 92.

Richards was born in Stevenson May 9, 1917. He grew up in the Columbia Gorge area, graduating from high school in The Dalles, Ore. Beginning his career in the woods in the Grays Harbor area, he moved to Bremerton in 1939, where he took a job as an apprentice pipefitter, rising to the level of planner and estimator.

He served in the U.S. Army between 1946 and 1948, their return to the shipyard and retired in 1973 as chief nuclear planner and estimator. Richards later worked for Art Anderson and Associates and QED, traveling for ship checks. Upon retirement he and his devoted wife Norma (Rollo) travelled extensively across the Western United States and Canada, participating in camping, hunting and fishing.

Richards is survived by his daughter, Barbara Rudolph (Dale) of Poulsbo, and son Kenneth Richards of Bremerton; grandchildren Nathanael Rudolph (Julie), and Dulce Henry (Dan); and great-grandchildren, Liliana and Nora Rudolph. He was preceded in death by wife Norma, and infant son Donald.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Bremerton.

There will be no funeral service.

The family requests any memorials be made to Poulsbo Fishline or Martha & Mary Health and Rehab Center.
