Walter F. Bale, 82

Poulsbo resident Walter Fred Bale died March 25, 2006 in Poulsbo. He was 82.

Bale was born to Fred Gamuel and Mabel (Sabin) Bale in Great Falls, Mont. on Jan. 14, 1924. He married Phyllis Cipullo on July 14, 1946 in Santa Maria, Italy.

Bale attended high school in Wapato and completed an apprenticeship at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as a marine machinist. He worked as a machinist at PSNS and planner and estimator for Advanced Planning PERA. He was also a real estate business owner, owned an appliance repair business from 1974 to 1985 and was a bus driver for 31 years. Bale served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was interested in heavy machinery, traveling, genealogy, real estate and apartment operations. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

Bale is survived by his wife Phyllis Bale of Poulsbo; sons Robert (Nancy) Bale of Poulsbo and Glen (Tina) Bale of Poulsbo; daughters Annette (Ron) Swanson of Poulsbo, Carol (Steve) Pace of Steilacoom and Concetta (Paul) Masterjohn of Buckley; brother Dwight (Laura) Bale of Auburn; sister Barbara (Jerry) DuRuz of Hawaii; sister-in-law Grace Bale of Zillah; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Bale was preceded in death by son Walter Fred Mario Bale and brothers Robert G. Bale and Charley W. Bale.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 1 and 10-11 a.m. April 3 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. April 3 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery at 2 p.m. April 3.
