Elizabeth “Betty” Roach died of cancer May 21. She was 76.
Roach was born Aug. 9, 1932, in Roxbury, Mass. She was one of eight girls.
She was known by family and friends as a woman of genuine character and endless generosity and integrity, able to find the goodness in people. She will be remembered by her lifetime friends, Donald and Joan Bielins, Mary Conroy Hogan, Mary Tremblay, Paula Garrity, Pat Diveau, Mariam and Herb Shankman, Hank and Robyn Roest, John and Amy Miller, Marion and Mike Boylan, Patty and Ray Encinas, Sherry Eyre, Bill and Beck Galloway, Rod and Hope Lewis, Naty and Jerry McMahan, Lee and Sandy Rampoli.
A special thanks to the Hospice of Ridgecrest for the wonderful, dedicated care given to Betty in her time of need.
Betty’s hobbies were sewing, landscape painting, and gardening. She was a master seamstress and designed numerous dresses, specializing in wedding gowns. She was an accomplished landscape artist, as well as an avid gardener.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Edward Moore of Cambridge, Mass.; sisters, Jane Igo and Alice Gibson; and great-grandson, Kyler Madsen.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, John C. Roach; her five children, Regina Madsen, Helen Rankin, John C. Roach III, Charles F. Roach, and Mary T. Roach Bellino; 13 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
She was a Catholic.
A memorial service was to be May 28 in Southern California.
