Charles F. Bates of Poulsbo died March 7. He was 92.
Bates was born in Seattle on Oct. 17, 1916, to Fred and Marie Bates.
He met and married Edith Dahl in Seattle in 1937. They were married for 56 years when Edith died in 1993.
He then married Sasha Christensen, who, in his final years, resided with him at Martha & Mary in Poulsbo.
He is survived by his wife, Sasha; by his son, Norm (Sally) of Poulsbo; and his daughter Charlotte (Bob) Newcomb of Silverdale; seven grandchildren: Chuck (Laura) of Bremerton, Ann Goodrich of Red Bluff, Calif., Barbara of Watertown, N.Y., and Tom of Silverdale, Linda of Santa Cruz, Calif., Brian Galten of Loomis, Calif. and Aldeen Sayle of Fort Lewis; and three great-grandchildren, Amanda, Brandon and Jodi.
He is also survived by a brother, Fred, and his ex-daughter-in-law Patty.
Bates was a carpenter all his life, and retired from NTS Keyport. He enjoyed traveling, and with Edith covered many, many miles throughout the country west of the Great Divide.
