Mary Janet Nyland-Gorton, 48

Former Poulsbo resident Mary Janet Nyland-Gorton died May 7, 2007 in Bremerton. She was 48.

Nyland-Gorton was born to Art and Vi Nyland in Bremerton on May 31, 1958.

She married Andrew Gorton.

Nyland-Gorton graduated from North Kitsap High School and Evergreen State College. She was a registered counselor and interned with Americorps National Service.

Nyland-Gorton enjoyed jewelry, crafts, collecting antiques, gardening, volunteer work and participating in Toastmasters.

Nyland-Gorton is survived by her husband Andrew Gorton of Bremerton; son Mitch (Elizabeth) Croover of Alabama; stepson Andrew Gorton Jr. of Bremerton; stepdaughter Melony Johnson of Alabama and sister Laina (Curt) Lavender of Port Orchard.

She was preceded in death by her sister Adrianne Cummings.

There will be no services at her request, but there will be a gathering of family and friends on July 28, 2007 in Poulsbo.
