Richard de Groen of Gaston, Ore., died July 18. He was 58.

He was born on Dec. 8, 1951, in Indonesia, to Rudi and Louise de Groen.

De Groen was preceded in death by his father, Rudi de Groen.

De Groen is survived by his wife, Rita de Groen of Gaston; son Christopher Carlson of Redmond; daughter Kristen de Groen of Dundee, Ore.; brothers John de Groen of Vashon Island and Larry de Groen of Seattle; sisters Ilse de Groen of Poulsbo, Telma Hauth of Tahuya, Amy Leddingham of Vero Beach, Fla., and Loesje de Groen of Seattle; his mother, Louise de Groen of Bainbridge; and two grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at 1178 Lovell Ave. NW, Bainbridge Island.
