Several months ago, a friend and fellow writer said to me, “Have you met A.C. Fuller yet? He’s a neighbor of yours.” We both lived in Hansville at that time and I had not met him, so I contacted him that same day. And, as they say, the rest is history. He’s now a pretty good friend.
Adam’s book, “The Anonymous Source,” was published and doing well when every published writer’s nightmare hit him … his publisher went out of business. His book is now being published again and is available on Amazon.com. (Phew!)
This book is about a reporter in New York City on that awful day of Sept. 11, 2001.
“I see the time after 9/11 as a transitional period, both because of the wars and other political situations that came after, and because our day-to-day lives were being so rapidly altered by technology,” he said.
“Most of the book takes place in the fall of 2002. I chose that time because the early 2000s were a key period in the country’s transition to digital media, which is another backdrop in the book. In 2002, less than half of U.S. homes had Internet access, and three-quarters of the ones that did were using dial up. Remember dial-up? There was no Facebook, no Twitter, no smart phones, and Google was just getting going. The very first iPods were starting to come out.”
This is a very interesting story set in a time period that most of us remember too well. It’s well worth the read if you enjoy intrigue and a reporter’s adventures. In this book, the reporter receives re-occurring phone calls from an anonymous tipster.
I asked Adam about his next book.
He said, “I’m hard at work on the sequel to ‘The Anonymous Source.’ The first draft is done and I’m currently editing. It’s called ‘The Inverted Pyramid,’ and I’m aiming for a July 2017 release.”
When it is released, I’ll let you all know. I for one can’t wait to read it.
News about A.J. Banner’s new book
Bestselling author A.J. Banner’s chilling new psychological thriller, “The Twilight Wife” (Touchstone), goes on sale Dec. 27.
The Port Orchard author’s latest is a suspenseful, nuanced novel exploring the intricacies of marriage, trust, and memory.
Banner will discuss and sign her book at 2 p.m. Jan. 7 at Liberty Bay Books in Poulsbo.
Banner is also the author of the runaway bestseller “The Good Neighbor.”
About “The Twilight Wife”:
On a remote island in the Pacific Northwest, marine biologist Kyra Winthrop struggles to recover from a diving accident that left her with a complex form of amnesia. With only brief flashes of the last four years of her life, her world has narrowed to the cozy yet secluded home where she lives with her devoted husband, Jacob. She recalls nothing of the last few years of her life, the accident, and her recovery in the hospital afterward.
Worse, Kyra begins to suffer from dark visions—or are they memories?—of broken promises and cryptic relationships with the island residents, whom she believes to be her friends. And when glimpses of another man’s face begin to appear in her mind, Kyra reluctantly begins to question her own dedication to her beloved husband.
As she races to uncover her past, she’ll find out that she’s not who she thought she was, and neither are the people around her, as the truth becomes a terrifying nightmare.
Early praise includes:
“[A] harrowing plot that reveals memory to be both unreliable and impossible to fully wash away… Banner’s ability to maintain tension while teasing out the truth of her hazy past will keep readers engaged.” — Publishers Weekly.
“An enthralling, unforgettable novel that defies readers to stop turning the pages.” — Gregg Olsen, No. 1 New York Times bestselling author.
“An aura of suspense hangs over every page of this well‐plotted psychological thriller. The uniquely unreliable narrator and the island of possibly unreliable side characters amp up the intrigue with every conversation and every cloudy memory… . Don’t expect to relax during this relatively quick read, and don’t plan to sleep until the last word has been read.” — RT Book Reviews “Top Pick” (****½ out of 5).
“With spellbinding narration and brilliant pacing, The Twilight Wife is not to be missed.” — Wendy Walker, USA Today bestselling author of “All Is Not Forgotten.”
“Intensely suspenseful and diamond-sharp . . You won’t be able to put it down!” — David Bell, author of “Since She Went Away.”
“Suspense and mystery simmer on every page … With a wonderfully clever plot, a sympathetic and skillfully drawn point-of-view character, a powerful sense of place, and rich prose that is, at times, almost hauntingly evocative, The Twilight Wife is everything readers could hope for.” — James Hankins, Amazon No. 1 bestselling author of “The Prettiest One.”
“Filled with buried secrets and unexpected turns, ‘The Twilight Wife’ is a twisty, edge-of-your-seat story that’s impossible to put down.” — Kimberly Belle, author of “The Marriage Lie.”
