Why should the tourists and visitors have all the fun? If you grab your cup of coffee now, you too can be at the opening day of this season’s Farmer’s Market. It opens at 9 a.m. at Mike Wallace Park (down by the Kingston ferry terminal on the grass). Allow plenty of time to get fresh fruits and vegetables, homemade crafts, and enjoy hot coffee and fresh baked goods. There’s always music, fun and plenty of chance to visit with old friends.
At the very same time, just up the hill at the Kingston Community Center the Kingston Garden Club is having their popular plant sale. The biggest problem with this sale is deciding how many bargains you can fit in your car. Many of these plants come from cuttings made from plants grown by local gardens–they’re incredible. This sale also begins at 9 a.m. It may be challenging to be in two places at once, but try to make both events. Be sure to get there early, this annual plant sale tends to sell out quickly.
Bring a good book
Those road construction delays we’ve been warning you about are beginning to occur regularly throughout North Kitsap. From now until the end of the summer, you are likely to find yourself delayed, diverted or just plain stuck in a backup headed into Kingston and in around Poulsbo.
We’ve already seen a few people lose their cool in the traffic tie-ups. Yelling, honking, gesturing or otherwise indicating your displeasure at the delay lets you vent a little steam, but it will do nothing to move the traffic along more quickly.
Leave a little earlier, stay calm and…bring a good book.
