POULSBO — Memorial Day is a chance for many to remember men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces who have served their country. Many local cemeteries, veterans organizations and cities will be holding ceremonies to mark the occasion.
The day will also bring a handful of closures and schedule changes throughout North Kitsap May 31.
City, County and State offices:
• All Department of Licensing driver licensing offices will be closed. The Poulsbo office will be closed May 28-June 1.

• Poulsbo City Hall and all city buildings will be closed.
• Poulsbo Municipal Court will be closed.
• The Poulsbo Parks and Recreation Center will be closed.
• Poulsbo Police business office will be closed. Officers will still be on duty and can be reached in an emergency by calling 911.
• Poulsbo Fire Department and North Kitsap Fire & Rescue headquarters will be closed. Emergency crews will still be on duty and can be reached in an emergency by calling 911.
• All branches of the Kitsap Regional Library system will be closed.
• Port of Poulsbo business office, guest moorage and fuel service will be open.
• Port of Kingston business offices and services will be open.
Garbage and recycling:
• Kitsap County Moderate Waste Facility is closed on Mondays.
• Drop boxes in Bainbridge Island, Hansville, Poulsbo, Silverdale and Olalla will be closed.
• Residential and commercial collection of garbage, recycling and debris inside the Poulsbo city limits will remain on regular schedule.
Grocery stores:
• Central Market in Poulsbo will be open regular hours.
• Poulsbo Albertsons will be open regular hours.
• Poulsbo Red Apple will be open regular hours.
• Kingston Albertsons will be open regular hours.
• Kingston Thriftway will be open regular hours.
Transportation:
• No draw span openings on the State Route 104 Hood Canal Bridge are scheduled.
• Kitsap Transit buses will run on Sunday schedule.
• Dedicated shipyard bus routes #16 Jackson Park, #18 Pendergast, #19 Crossroads Shuttle and the #81 Annapolis Commuter, the Bremerton/ Annapolis Foot Ferry and Worker/Driver buses will not operate
• Kitsap Transit ACCESS buses will operate Sunday hours. Riders are encouraged to call early to arrange Memorial Day rides. All repeating rides scheduled for May 31 will be cancelled. ACCESS will take next-day trip reservations on Memorial Day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Kitsap Transit will not collect parking fees at the Southworth or Kingston parking lots.
• Seattle/Bainbridge ferry will be on holiday schedule.
• Kingston/Edmonds ferry will be on holiday schedule.
• Bremerton/Seattle ferry will be on holiday schedule.
