POULSBO — An early dose of holiday cheer will make its way to Little Norway before heading to Washington D.C. for all the world to see.
The 2006 capitol Christmas tree, which was cut from the Olympic National Forest, will be on display from 5-6 p.m. Tuesday in the Wal-Mart parking lot on its last stop in the state before heading to the White House for the holidays.
Mayor Kathryn Quade will recognize three classrooms of students from the North Kitsap School District, who made ornaments for the tree.
Those ornaments have already been mailed to the capitol, but there will be sample at the gathering, said Parks and Recreation director Mary McCluskey.
The fifth- and sixth-grade choirs from Poulsbo Elementary and the Poulsbo Sons of Norway Leikarringen Dancers will also perform at the ceremony, McCluskey said.
At the conclusion of the hourlong event, North Kitsap High School’s Northern Lights choir will sing holiday songs as part of a community sing along.
