North End youth soccer enthusiasts and philanthropists will merge Oct. 12 and 14 as the North Kitsap Soccer Club teams up with North Kitsap Fishline to sponsor the “Kick Out Hunger!†fall food drive.
At each field which a North Kitsap youth team is playing on those dates, there will be a collection box labeled with a neon green “Kick Out Hunger†sign.
On Oct. 12, the games and donation boxes will be at the Port Gamble fields
On Oct. 14, they will be at Vinland and Wolfle elementary schools as well as at North Kitsap High School, Kingston Junior High and Strawberry fields.
Members of the community are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items out to the field, to support Fishline while also supporting youth soccer.
But Fishline officials also request that residents do not homemade or home-packaged foods as state regulations do not allow the distribution of such items.
Some needed items other than non-perishable food include toilet paper, liquid laundry soap and hand soap.
The NKSC Web site — www.northkitsapsoccer.org — will be documenting the donations and will publish how much has been collected Oct. 16.
