KINGSTON — The first domino regarding the move into the new Kingston High School has fallen.

This Thursday, Hill Worldwide Moving Services, based out of Poulsbo, will be transporting various items belonging to KHS faculty into the brand new facility from July 5-13.

“All of the teachers supplies and equipment will be moved in there,” North Kitsap School District Maintenance Director David Dumpert said. “But there’s still have a massive amount of items going into the school. Everything should be moved in by mid-August.”

Teachers and faculty will follow.

“They’re packing up the teachers’ stuff, labeling it and putting it into their new rooms at Kingston High School,” said NKSD Finance Director Nancy Moffatt. “They have rooms in the school that already are identified for each teacher.”

Moffatt said she is more than comfortable with Hill Moving Services’ ability to tackle the job.

“They’re a great company,” she said. “They will do an outstanding job.”

Currently, there’s a handful of administrators who have already moved into the new KHS.

“The only people moved into the building right now are a few administrators,” said KHS athletic coordinator Dan Novick. “There can’t be more than 12 people in the building at one time. I don’t think teachers will be moving into the building until mid-August.”

Despite the wait, Dumpert said he is excited to see the facility open its doors to the public this fall.

“It’s a beautiful facility,” he said. “It’s going to be great for the community.”
