Four Poulsbo
residents hurt
in SR 3 collision
POULSBO — Four Poulsbo residents were injured in a head-on car crash Wednesday afternoon at the State Route 3 and Pioneer Hill Road intersection.
Daniel Lee Maki, 23, was driving a 1991 Chevrolet Geo southbound on SR 3 shortly before 7 p.m. He pulled into the southbound lefthand turn lane at the Pioneer Hill Road intersection and turned in front of an oncoming car in the northbound lane when the two cars collided, according to a report from the Washington State Patrol.
The oncoming car, a 1987 Subaru station wagon, was driven by Jennifer Teresa Bonachea, 43. Maki and his passenger, Kristofer Lars Garoutte, 21, and Bonachea and her passenger, Richard Antonio Bonachea, 15, were all transported to Harrison Hospital for various injuries, including possible facial, arm, chest and shoulder injuries. Maki and Garoutte were not wearing seatbelts; the Bonacheas were wearing their seatbelts.
WSP troopers stated the cause was Maki failing to yield while making a lefthand turn. Maki was charged with vehicular assault and a DUI.

Suquamish woman in Tuesday fatality
POULSBO — The Suquamish woman who was killed in the Bond/Gunderson Road intersection crash Tuesday morning has been identified as Arlone Elaine Turner, 69.
Turner had been turning left from Gunderson onto southbound Bond Road when an oncoming car, driven by Sherrie Dahl, 58, of Poulsbo, collided with Turner’s car in the northbound lane, according to a report from the Washington State Patrol.
Turner died at the scene from internal injuries.
Keyport resident arrested following burglary allegations
KEYPORT — Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office were called to the 1600 block of NE Poulsbo Avenue shortly after 9 p.m. Dec. 11 for a report of a burglary that had taken place that afternoon.
Witnesses said they saw the suspect, a 22-year-old Keyport resident, running down the street with clothing in his hands Saturday afternoon and also believe he has burglarized other homes in the area. One victim found his rain suit missing from his motorcycle saddlebags.
Deputies eventually found the suspect hiding in a closet at his residence in Keyport. The man denied all accusations made by the victims.
Deputies eventually found the rain suit on the property and returned it to its owner.
The suspect was taken into custody on a charge of second degree burglary.
