State meet closes season for Robson and Embrey.

The North Kitsap Vikings’ dynamic duo of Jim Robson and Robyn Embrey were foiled in their quest for glory Saturday in the state Class 4A cross-country meet at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.

Robson, who finished the West Central District III race with a commanding fourth-place finish a week before, finished in 84th place in 17 minutes, 13 seconds — far behind race leader Auburn Riverside’s Carl Moe (15:36).

Embrey, after sneaking into state with a 34th-place finish at districts, crossed the finish line in 109th place in 21:14. Lake Stevens’ Amber Nickelson won the race in 18:26.

Snohomish won the Class 4A girls team title, upsetting favorite Bellarmine Prep.
