Van crashes into tribal youth center
SUQUAMISH — The front entrance to the Suquamish Tribal Youth Center got an unexpected visitor Saturday evening.
North Kitsap Fire & Rescue crews and Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the scene at the ninety-degree corner of Suquamish Way and Augusta Ave. around 7 p.m. Dec. 4.
Crews found a Chevrolet van, driven by a 34-year-old Bainbridge Island resident, that had crashed into the front entrance to the youth center.
The driver admitted he had “a couple beers” prior to driving and was placed into custody of the Washington State Patrol for a full DUI investigation.
NKF&R crews believe the crash could have possibly damaged one of the center’s main support beams.
There was no one in the building at the time.
