POULSBO — Oven roasted pork with garlic mashed potatoes or Santa Fe chicken fajitas might seem like too much to ask for dinner at the end of a hectic work day, but Tony and Lori Durham make it a breeze.

As the owners of Dream Dinners on Viking Avenue, the Durhams specialize in helping customers who want nutritious meals without the hassle of hours of preparation.

“We have everything already laid out. All you have to do is put it together,” Tony said.

Even the most culinary inept can produce healthy meals because Dream Dinners has done all of the preparation and provides simple instructions for making each entree, he said.

“We are appointment-based, and we can work around anyone’s schedule,” he said.

However, it’s not just the flexibility and convenience the business provides that makes it so attractive, Lori said.

“Dream Dinners has selected the vendors it works with based on the way they handle things,” she said. “We want things that are top notch, and things that we would serve to our own families.”

The meals are not only good for the average person, but they also fit into a number of weight loss programs, including Weight Watchers, she said.

Because all of the nutritional information for each meal is provided, customers can make their choices based upon their individual needs, Lori said.

That flexibility benefits everyone, because it allows customers to fit each meal to their individual tastes, Tony said.

“If their family likes garlic, they can add more garlic,” he said. “If not, they can leave it out.”

Meals can be made in servings of three or six, depending on how large a customer’s needs are, he said.

All of the recipes marketed by Dream Dinners are tested by the company’s executive chef before they make it to the individual franchises, Tony said.

“We’re always looking to do things better, and we have the experience of 200 other store owners that helps us,” he said.

If location is paramount in the success of a business, the Durhams said they couldn’t have found a more ideal spot than they currently have.

“We get customers from Kingston and Bainbridge Island. We get people from Port Townsend,” Lori said. “We even get customers from Silverdale and Bremerton. It’s been pretty good.”

For those who aren’t sure if the Dream Dinners experience is for them, an introductory offer is available for less than $50 and includes three dinners with six servings each.
