The Bremerton-Seattle route is operating with two boats as the M/V Sealth stepped in to replace the M/V Kitsap this afternoon, according to the Washington State Department of Ferries.

Spokeswoman Marta Coursey said a crack was discovered in the hull of the 124-car Kitsap during a routine inspection this week, and the vessel is expected to be out of service through this weekend.

The 90-car Sealth, which was operating on the Point Defiance/Tahlequah route, will replace the Kitsap on the Bremerton route for several days, beginning with the 4:20 p.m. sailing from Seattle March 9.

The 34-car Hiyu, on standby at Eagle Harbor Maintenance Facility, will replace the Sealth on the Point Defiance/Tahlequah route beginning with the 2:45 p.m. sailing from Point Defiance.

The 1:50 p.m. sailing from Point Defiance and the 2:15 p.m. sailing from Tahlequah were cancelled to reposition ferries.
