The real turn-of-the century occurs in two weeks, and Kitsap revellers can find a variety of public settings to celebrate. Among the entertainment offerings are mystery dinner theater, bowling, dancing and live music. Some of the celebrations offer the traditional midnight champagne toast, and others are designed to be alcohol-free family events. NORTH KITSAP The rock band Beyond the Fringe begins playing at 9 p.m. New Year’s Eve at the Clearwater Casino in Suquamish. Admission is free. SOUTH KITSAP Soundview Ballroom in Port Orchard hosts a formal New Year’s Eve ball featuring a prime rib dinner by Le Garmache’ Catering, an interactive dinner theater/murder mystery by Smoking Guns Production, and dancing to live music. Tickets are $65, and reservations must be made by Dec. 27 by calling (360) 895-1000. The package also includes beer, wine, champagne and party favors. Tickets are limited, so there will be plenty of room to dance at the ballroom overlooking Sinclair Inlet and downtown Bremerton at 2065 Bay St., just below the Washington Veterans Home in Retsil. You can begin 2001 with a strike at the New Year’s Eve Moonlight Bowl at the popular Hi-Joy Bowl, 1011 Bethel Ave., Port Orchard. The party starts at 9 p.m., and features treats, a buffet, and champagne and music at midnight. Party goers will be handed hats, leis and noise makers. Three people will begin the new year with $100 jackpots, and prizes will be awarded for certain strikes and knocking down colored pins. Tickets are $25 if purchased by Dec. 29, $30 after that date. Singer Boya-Salamanka sings a variety of musical styles at the Port Orchard Eagles Club’s New Year’s celebration from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the Eagles Hall at 4001 Jackson Ave., Port Orchard. They can be purchased only in advance, at the bar inside the club.The package includes door prizes, snacks throughout the evening and a champagne toast at midnight.
