The House of Soul-stice, a cozy fledgling 21+ music venue on the shores of Sinclair Inlet in Port Orchard, will be doing the Fourth of July up right with a batch of country, rock, blues and barbecue all wrapped up in a jam session that starts that day around 2 p.m.

From then on, the music will continue, segueing from a come-one, come-all open mic-style jam into an evening concert featuring the venue’s namesake band Soul-stice.

At the tail-end of fall 2006, members of Soul-stice — a classic blues rock band based out of Port Orchard for more than a decade — opened the House of Soul-stice at 2065 Bay St. next to the Anapolis ferry dock to combat what they’d seen as a lack of live music venues in the area.

It began as an all-ages venture but has since turned into a 21+ venue with the addition of hard alcohol. Still guitars are strewn about for people to play in either an impromptu or structured setting.

The House of Soul-stice hosts open-mics regularly to give those guitars some use in all different styles. At 6 p.m. Tuesdays they host an acoustic pickin’ open mic; 6 p.m. Thursdays are rock and roll jams, while Sundays feature soul and blues at 6 p.m. with a country open-mic preceding at 3 p.m.

In it’s first year, the House of Soul-stice’s shows — typically Fridays and Saturdays — have brought in the likes of the Rocky Point All Stars, the Wheels and will soon be hosting Z-Rex and the Ninjas (July 20). They’ve also expanded their entertainment out of doors, hosting classic car show Saturdays which welcome classic car owners and lovers to the House.

This Wednesday, they’ll be doing something a little different, pairing the music of Soul-stice with the Sinclair Inlet fireworks show to celebrate the Fourth.

Opening the concert, which will start in the evening around 7 p.m. will be a special installment of power pop, good times music from a burgeoning Bremerton four-piece called The Dailys.

The Dailys are a product of a decade’s-long relationship that spawned when the now-30-year-olds were in high school and the band’s founding members — Jeremy Fairbanks (vocals and guitar) and Ryan Ehlke — were in a group called Shine.

Fast forward about 13 years and the two took the essence of the music to form the Dailys with drummer Mikey Haslip and keyboardist Daren Challman at the beginning of 2007.

Just a matter of months later, they are on the verge of their first show and what a nostalgic first show it should be on the shores of Port Orchard with Soul-stice on Independence Day.
