Ella May Anderson went home to be with her Lord on Jan. 6 at the age of 92.
Born on Oct. 10, 1924 to Norweigan immigrants Anton and Laura Reite, Ella was the youngest of six children (Ralph, Gudrun, Alma, Arnold and Lloyd). They preceded her in death.
Ella grew up in the Port Orchard area and graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1942.
On June 30, 1051, she married Eddie R. Anderson, a logger and World War II veteran. They had three children: Jerry Anderson (Kellie) of Seabeck; Marilyn Easterday (Val) of Belfair; and Beverly Cameron (John) of Port Orchard.
Ella held various jobs in her lifetime, including in the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton Title Company and the Kitsap County auditor’s office. She retired in 1980 from the Kitsap County assessor’s office as office manager.
In her retirement years, she enjoyed being a part of the Burley Bible Church, traveling, crocheting, keeping her yard nice and playing Monopoly and Skip Bo with her five grandchildren (Sheila, Curtis, Joleen, Rachael and Mitchell), who gave her great joy. She would have also taken great joy in her 14 great-grandchildren had she not been striken with Alzheimer’s Disease.
As the Alzeimer’s ran its course, Ella lived in a number of care facilities and spent her last years at Martha and Mary in Poulsbo.
She will be remembered as a sweet, gentle, caring person by all who knew and loved her. A memorial will be held at a later date.
