Sewage impacts Manchester beaches

During the advisory the public is encouraged to avoid contact with the salt water. The advisory will be lifted on Monday, July 28.

BREMERTON — Kitsap County has notified Kitsap Public Health District July 24 of a sewage spill out of a sewer manhole located on the beach at the end of East Daniels Loop in Manchester.

Kitsap County wastewater staff responded immediately to the site of the spill and corrected the problem. Between 15,000-20,000 gallons was spilled, reported the health district.

Warning signs have been posted in the area and Pomeroy Park has been closed to swimming through the weekend. During the advisory the public is encouraged to avoid contact with the salt water. The advisory will be lifted on Monday, July 28. Shellfish harvesting is already closed in the area.
