SKSD school board vacancies and candidate filing dates

Three seats on the South Kitsap School District board of directors are up for election this fall. Candidates must file for office between May 15-18, 2017 at the Kitsap County Auditor’s Office Elections Division at the Kitsap County Administration Building, 619 Division St in Port Orchard.

To be legally eligible, a candidate must be a registered voter and a resident of the director area for which he or she files. All seats are four-year terms.

The three districts up for election are:

— District 1 (Port Orchard, Annapolis, Old Belfair Highway and Gorst) currently represented by Seward Stevens

— District 3 (Olalla, Mullenix, Long Lake and Bethel-Burley) currently represented by Chris Lemke

— District 4 (Lund, Bethel and Parkwood) currently represented by Rebecca Diehl

The City of Port Orchard will be hosting a candidate forum for those interested in running for public office. The forum will be Thursday, April 27 at 6 p.m. at City Hall. It will include campaign and filing information from current elected officials and county staff.
